Process

The process depends on where we are starting from. If we are starting from scratch, then the first step is to decide on a domain name and host and get that all set up. I can help you with these steps by recommending good domain name options and a range of hosting options (I don't provide hosting myself, but I have some good recommendations)

While we are waiting for that to get set up, we can start discussing what kind of site you would like. Do you want a lot of flashy graphics, or are you more concerned with content? Usually a nice compromise between the two gives way to a well balanced site that has quality content and an attractive user interface. This will really depend on the whole point of your site.

One exercise that really helps is for the customer to surf the net and send me the URLs of web sites that they like the look of. This helps me see what you are looking for, then we use these ideas to create an original, fresh look for your site. This step is not absolutely necessary, I can usually come up with something nice based on the content or graphics or logos the customer might provide.

Once I have an idea of what you are looking for, I can come up with several design options for you to review. We'll keep refining the design until it is considered final, and then we'll create all of the linking pages and start adding content and graphics.

Depending on your content, you may need to have regular updates made. I can either train you to do this on your own, if its simple like changing calendar items, or I can do them for you.
